Female Volunteer of the Year at FV Gala 2025
21 Sep by Karen Cook (Eloise)
It was a night of celebration and recognition with Football Victoria, where the very best of the game were showcased across all levels; from off-field grassroots community heroes to the stars of NPL Victoria.
Football Victoria celebrated all the volunteers across the state but what made this event even more special was that our very own Megan Roussel (VP) took out Female Volunteer of the year. We could not be prouder!
Further more, Audrey Azzopardi (Nayade’s daughter) was awarded Female Referee of the Year! Audrey started playing football at the Swifts and switched to refereeing and is now in Year 11.
Over the past 12 months, Megan has played a leading role in the planning, promotion, and delivery of a range of successful initiatives, including:
- Go Family – a six-week program designed to help families connect through sport, promoting fun, fitness, and togetherness.
- Go Soccer Mums – offering women, not just mothers, a supportive environment to step onto the pitch, meet others, and build confidence through physical activity.
- MiniTillies – engaging young children with football fundamentals, encouraging healthy habits, teamwork, and outdoor fun.
Megan embodies what it means to be a community leader. She gives her time, heart, and energy to others, not for recognition, but because she genuinely believes in the power of sport to bring people together, build confidence, and improve lives.
Congratulations Megan, we are so lucky to have you at the Swifts!
